Chilliwack’s Best (chilliwacksbest.com) is a free directory of local businesses in Chilliwack and the surrounding area. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: email [email protected].

Information we collect

About listed businesses

We build business listings from public sources: Google Business Profiles (name, address, phone, website, hours, ratings, review counts and photos), businesses’ own websites (including a published contact email), and public recommendations in local community groups. This is information a business has published about itself.

From business owners

When you add, claim or edit a listing, we collect what you give us: your name, email address, phone number, business details, description, hours, photos and logo, and your choice on the optional marketing-consent checkbox.

When you use the site

Like most websites, our hosting and security providers keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser and pages visited). Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from spam bots. We may use analytics tools, such as Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, which use cookies to show us how the site is used; you can block or delete cookies in your browser.

How we use it

To publish and rank listings, including each business’s Trust Score.
To confirm that you own a business before you can change its listing (by emailing you a sign-in link).
To reply to your messages and requests.
To send a business, at the email address it publishes, an invitation to claim its free listing. These invitations are about the business’s own listing.
To send marketing emails, only if you ticked the marketing-consent box.
To keep the site secure and to understand how it is used.

How we share it

On the site. Listing details (business name, address, phone, website, email, hours, photos) are public.
With our partners, only with your consent. If you tick the optional consent box when you claim your listing, we may share your business contact details (your name, business name, email address and phone number) with partners who offer services that may suit your business, and they may contact you. If you don’t tick it, we don’t.
With service providers who run the site for us: hosting (Netlify, Cloudflare), our database (Supabase), email delivery (SMTP2GO), and Google (business data, maps, analytics). Some of them store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
When the law requires it.

We do not sell personal information.

Your choices

Unsubscribe or withdraw consent at any time: follow the instructions in any email from us, untick the consent box when you edit your listing (using the sign-in link we email you), or email [email protected]. We act on it within 10 business days. Partners we shared your details with before you withdrew consent will be told to stop.
See, correct or remove your information, or ask us to remove your business’s listing: email [email protected].

How long we keep it

We keep listing information while the listing is on the site, and owner and contact-form details for as long as we need them for the purposes above, then delete them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the effective date at the top.
